Smoky Mountain Brass Quintet Commissions Fanfare for Jackson County Library Opening

The Smoky Mountain Brass Quintet (SMBQ), with the support of the Jackson County Arts Council, commissioned internationally known musician, David Sampson, to compose a fanfare to be played by the SMBQ at the grand opening of the new Jackson County Public Library Complex. The composition has just arrived! Members of the Quintet look forward to performing the new fanfare titled “Smoky Mountain Fanfare”. They plan to frame and display the composition in the new library. SMBQ becomes a non-profit corporation - receives 501(c) (3) status

Members of the Smoky Mountain Brass Quintet (SMBQ) are pleased to announce their recent designation as a non-profit corporation.  This status will assist the quintet as they seek additional funds for the expansion of primary goals:  to promote understanding and enjoyment of music, particularly among youth of Western North Carolina; and to expand appreciation for the musical heritage of the Southern Appalachian region.
